DNR Releases Second `Diamond Jim' Rockfish
BALTIMORE (AP) ―
Maryland wildlife officials have released a second batch of specially tagged rockfish into the Chesapeake Bay, including "Diamond Jim," a fish worth $25,000 if caught.
If "Diamond Jim" is caught by midnight July 30, the lucky angler will receive $20,000 cash courtesy of Boater's World and a $5,000 diamond from Smyth Jewelers. Anyone catching the 20 other tagged rockfish released Wednesday will receive a $500 Boater's World gift certificate.
The fish were released at spots across the state, including Fort McHenry in Baltimore. The release was the second so far this year, and a third is planned at the end of July.
Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman Kara Turner says no one caught the specially tagged "Diamond Jim" released earlier this year. Anyone catching that fish will receive a $500 gift certificate.
