If you're a bride-to-be, you needed teamwork, quickness and a good pair of tennis shoes Friday morning in Towson.
Ron Matz reports on what's become a Baltimore tradition that has a lot of young women on the run.
Whatever you do, don't get in the way of a bride in search of a bargain, especially when wedding dresses are waiting.
The line formed 16 hours before the doors opened at Filene's Basement for the annual Running of the Brides.
About 1,600 designer wedding gowns were up for grabs, even ones seen in the magazines.
"They're all designer dresses, the ones you see in Wedding or Brides magazines. They're deeply discounted so people can save 95 percent on a wedding gown. They can get the deal of a lifetime here," said Pat Boudrot, spokesperson for Filene's Basement.
It took about 30 seconds for the racks to empty.
But Ashira Jensen found her "Carrie Bradshaw" for $249, 25 minutes after the doors opened.
"It's very pretty. It has a gorgeous veil and I feel like it's a perfect fit. I'm getting married June 20, 2009," said Jensen.
It was a perfect ending to a Friday frenzy.
The Running of the Brides originated at the Filene's flagship store in Boston in 1947.
