Former Police Commissioner Wants His Job Back
by Richard Sher
BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―
Former Baltimore City Police Commissioner Kevin Clark was back in the city Monday to talk with his lawyers and exclusively to
Eyewitness News.
Maryland's Court of Special Appeals has ruled that Clark was illegally terminated in November 2004. The city has appealed to the Maryland Court of Appeals, the state's highest court.
"Baltimore is in a state of emergency," Clark said. "I know I could turn this around fast."
"Clark took the money he got when he was fired and spent it. He legally cannot come back now and sue the same party that gave him the money," said City Solicitor George Nilson.
"Kevin has been damaged and he continues to be damaged until he's out back in the job," said A. Dwight Pettit, Clark's attorney.
Clark is vice president of Elite-JMS Investigations, one of New York's largest security firms, with 1,000 investigators.
He was fired by then-Mayor O'Malley, when allegations of domestic abuse surfaced. An independent investigation by Howard County Police found no abuse and no charges were brought.
