Hereford High School Graduate Killed In Iraq

HEREFORD, Md. (WJZ) ― Hereford High School in Baltimore County is grieving over the loss of a soldier who's death not only brings sadness, but a remembrance of another loss.

20-year-old Josh Snyder was killed in Iraq on Tuesday, just two weeks shy of his 21st birthday. He was shot while on patrol.

His mother tells WJZ's Sharon Lee he was a patriotic young man. "Josh was proud to serve. I remember talking with him. [He] had his uniform on and knew he was going over there to do some good."

It's also a devastating loss for Hereford High School. Josh's death is like adding salt to an open wound at the school; about five weeks ago they lost Norman Anderson, another 2002 graduate.

The two Marines were roommates at boot camp together. They were also best friends, playing on the same football team at Hereford.

Hereford High School is organzing a memorial service for Josh Snyder.
