Police Release What Killed An Elkton Teen
Elkton, Md (AP) ―
Ocean City Police have released the cause of death of an Elkton teen whose body was found floating in Cape May Inlet two weeks after he went missing during Senior Week.
The report from a medical examiner in New Jersey lists the cause of death for 18-year-old Nicholas Gochnour as drowning, with morphine toxicity as a contributing cause. The manner of death was listed as undetermined.
Police say this could include any opium derivative narcotic such as heroin, morphine or a variety of pills. The manner of death will be listed as "undetermined."
Police say that after more than five months of investigation, a definitive scenario surrounding Gochnour's disappearance is still not clear.
According to police, thousands of hours have been spent investigating leads and interviewing close to 100 persons as far away as New York.
Police say that the case will remain open, but they've suspended their active investigation.
