Study: Funding For City Drug Treatment Down

Baltimore, MD (AP) ― A new study is pointing out that funding for drug treatment programs in Baltimore has dropped by more than 10 percent over the past two years.

The Center for Substance Abuse Research at the University of Maryland, College Park says funding peaked in 2003 and has gone down ever since.

The decline is occurring even as a growing number of elected officials and law enforcement heads point to treatment as the key to the city's war on drugs.
