Drug Treatment For Meth Lab Suspect

Severna Park, MD (WJZ) ― The man charged with operating a methamphetamine lab out of a quiet Severna Park neighborhood has been ordered to attend a drug treatment program. Now authorities are scared that meth labs will continue popping up all over Maryland.

A judge ordered 33-year-old Brian Cauffman to attend the program as he awaits trial.

Federal agents say Cauffman was making the drug in the home's garage.

Undercover agents say they bought drugs at the home over a period of months. They say they even saw the makings of the laboratory.

The drug enforcement agency says this is the third major drug bust in a residential area so far this summer.

Authorities say methamphetamine is a growing problem because it's cheap and fairly easy to make.
