Beaver Found Roaming Streets Of Mt. Vernon

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― WJZ Eyewitness News stumbled upon an odd occurrence in Mt. Vernon Saturday night.

Baltimore City Police responded to calls that a 30-pound beaver was in the middle of Mt. Royal Avenue near the University of Baltimore late Saturday night. Six officers came to the scene and cornered the critter in a tree and flower bed on the sidewalk.

The beaver harmlessly sat in the bed until Animal Control finally arrived to capture it. It took several attempts for the Animal Control officer to get a hold of the beaver, but eventually he managed to safely cage it up inside his vehicle.

The officer says the beaver will be taken to the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore for observation.
