Missing Woman Is Found, Hope Renewed For Man

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY (WJZ) ― Hope for finding a missing Baltimore man got a boost Wednesday when a woman tied to his last known whereabouts, turned herself into police after being missing for 10 days.

As Dennis Edwards reports, police are still searching for 21-year-old Michael Francis but they may now get help from 18-year-old Sierra Anderson.

Francis is classified as "critically missing." But now that Anderson, the girlfriend of the primary suspect in his disappearance, is in custody, Francis' mother has renewed hope of seeing her son again alive.

Police say Anderson's boyfriend Antonio Moore, shot Francis with an assault rifle on the night he went missing. Francis was then stuffed in the trunk of Moore's car before Moore and Anderson were seen speeding away.

"Maybe now we can really get some answers to what took place that day, that evening," said Francis' mother Towanna Francis. "Maybe we can find out where Michael is."

Moore is facing first degree attempted murder and a slew of other charges. But for police the number one concern is finding Francis.

"Based on the description of what happened from witnesses and the physical evidence in the car, we believe Michael Francis was seriously injured in this shooting," said Lt. David Waltemeyer with Anne Arundel County Police.

Francis' mother said she was relieved Moore was taken into custody. He was captured not long after he was spotted at North County High School, setting off a lockdown at several nearby schools earlier this month.

Although Anderson turned herself in at a Baltimore City Police station, officials said she has not been charged with any crime.

That is puzzling to Towanna Francis who said she wants to know more about Anderson's possible role in her son's abduction.

While police continue their investigation and search, Francis' family said they are praying.

"I would like if anybody knows something about Michael, wherever he may be, add some closure to this. Bring him home or let us know his whereabouts and we can take it from there," said Towanna Francis.

Anyone with information about Michael Francis should call Anne Arundel County Police at 410-222-8610.
