Man Sentenced For Sex With Disabled Clients

BALTIMORE, Md. (AP) ― The sentence is five months on home detention for a Cambridge man accused of sexually assaulting the mentally disabled women he supervised at a state agency.

Fifty-four-year-old Leroy Banks was sentenced yesterday on federal charges of giving a false statement to investigators. His sentence also includes two years of supervised probation for tampering with a witness. Banks pleaded guilty in December.

Court records show Banks was a supervisor for the disabled clients working at the state-run Eastern Shore Sheltered Workshop. The sexual assault allegations surfaced in 2003. Banks later admitted that he lied when he denied having sex with the women, but prosecutors say he claimed the sex was consensual.
