The Baltimore stadium complex has welcomed thousands of extreme sport fans from around the country for a weekend of thrills, spills and high-flying excitement.
As
Peggy Lee reports, the Action Sports Dew Tour has brought some of the world's best skateboarders, motocross riders, BMX bikers and a popular band called 'Saliva' to Charm City.
For the first time in its history, the AST Dew Tour made its debut in Charm City.
Six thousands yards of dirt along with tons of steel ramps and lighting equipment have been situated in the parking lot across from Camden Yards.
"If you've never seen this stuff, and you come out and you see a guy doing a back flip on a motorcycle, it gets a wow out of anyone," said Wade Martin, the general manager of AST Dew Tour.
Back flips on bikes, huge jumps on vertical ramps, and dangerous maneuvers on skateboards will all be seen this weekend.
Dundalk native and world class skateboarder, Bucky Lasek would be riding, but he is nursing a bad knee.
"It feels good, but I wish I was healthy. I'm kind of bummed my knee keeps acting up," said Lasek.
The Dew Tour was expected to bring 50,000 people to Baltimore, giving the city an economic boost.
"I think it's an opportunity for us to bring in extra revenue because people are staying here this weekend. It's on national television, and it really highlights the greatness that we have here in the city," said Mayor Sheila Dixon.
"It's a big part of why we wanted to come here--to tap into the East Coast market and Baltimore and the surrounding markets, so its great. Baltimore is hosting one of the biggest," said Martin.
The preliminary rounds kicked off Thursday with events scheduled to last through the weekend.
Admission to the Dew Tour is $15.
After Baltimore, the Dew Tour will head to Cleveland.
