Baltimore Co. Man Charged With Sex Child Abuse

PERRY HALL, Md. (WJZ) ― On Sept. 28, Baltimore County Police arrested Stephen Michael Gayer, 37, of the 100 block of Bourbon Court.

Gayer was charged with sex abuse of a minor and possession of child pornography. He engaged in sexual acts with children, and photographed them nude while they were in his home.

Detectives say that Gayer sexually abused a teenager who lived with him in the home from June 2005 until February 2007. Gayer would go down to her bedroom in the basement, or while in the basement area would have her sit on his lap while watching television. Police say Gayer would sexually abuse her and would photograph her nude having her pose.

During the investigation it was discovered that Gayer had also sexually abused another family member who was 8-years-old in October 2006. She was at his house watching television in the basement while over for a visit. Stephen Gayer sat down beside her and began to sexually abuse her.

Investigators found child pornography in Gayer's possession of photographs depicting the nude teenager in poses. They also found photographs of two other girls who appeared to be 10-13 years old, nude, engaged in sexual activities. The photographs had been taken in the basement of Gayer's residence.

Detectives were able to identify the other two children as a 13-year old relative of Gayer, and her 15-year old friend. They told police that Gayer tried to commit sex acts with them and gave them alcohol, then photographed them. This took place three to four years prior while staying overnight to go on a trip to Six Flags Amusement Park the next day.

Stephen Gayer has been charged with five counts of sex abuse of a minor, third-degree sex offense, two counts of fourth-degree sex offense, and possession of child pornography. He was incarcerated at the Baltimore County Detention Center, and on Sept. 29, posted bail on a $150,000 bond, awaiting trial.

Police are asking any other victims who have not come forward, who were abused or photographed by Gayer, to contact the Baltimore County Police Department's Family Crimes Unit at 410-853-3650.
