Woman Killed In Crash With Tractor Trailer

BERLIN, Md. (AP) ―

State police say a Pocomoke City woman was killed and four people, including an infant, were injured in a crash on Route 113 in Worcester County.

It happened around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Route 113 and Groton Road in Berlin.

Police say the driver of a minivan, 69-year-old Mary Frances Shorter, failed to yield right of way to a tractor trailer at the intersection and the two vehicles crashed.

Shorter was pronounced dead on the scene. But the other three people in the van, including a 2-month-old girl, and the driver of the tractor trailer were taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for treatment. The infant was later taken to John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
