A proposed 600-mile superhighway connecting five states won't be under construction for at least six years.
The idea stalled last week when the Virginia transportation department didn't include money for Interstate 99 in a report on its highway projects.
The proposed highway would extend down the coast from Dover, Del., to Salisbury and Virginia Beach and on to Wilmington, N.C., then South Carolina's Myrtle Beach and Charleston.
The route is a 10-hour drive between Charleston and Interstate-95 south of Philadelphia, and would go through Delaware near or on Delaware Route 1.
