A Message To WJZ Viewers From Kimberly Dozier

I wanted to write to say thank you to everyone who reached out to me, and to my family, during all those weeks in the hospital at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, and later at Kernan Hospital/University of Maryland Medical System. It was amazing to think so many people out there were pulling for us -- and believe me, especially in those early days last summer, reading those e-mails helped me take every painful step.

As you'll see in Tuesday's special, Flashpoint, it took an army of people, from the soldiers on the ground, to the trauma surgeons in Baghdad, Balad and Landstuhl, to the military medical teams back in the states, to save me and the injured members of the U.S. patrol we'd been filming, when the car bomb struck. The special is a way of saying thanks, and of remembering those we lost that day: our CBS camera crew Paul Douglas and James Brolan, and the 4th Infantry Division's Captain James Alex Funkhouser, and his translator Sam.

We all have a lot to be thankful for - thank you for sending me the prayers and good wishes that helped me pull through.

-Kimberly
