Gilchrest Files Papers For 10th Term In Office
CHESTERTOWN, Md (AP) ―
First District Congressman Wayne Gilchrest has formally begun his bid for a tenth term in office. He filed his candidacy papers this week.
The election is more than sixteen months away, but Gilchrest is facing a Republican primary challenge from Baltimore County state Senator Andy Harris.
The announced Democrats include Queen Anne's County State's Attorney Frank Kratovil and Cambridge attorney Christopher Robinson.
Gilchrest said in a statement he wants to use his experience in Congress to push for more protections for the Chesapeake Bay, fight increased taxes and support tougher border security measures.
The district includes the Eastern Shore counties and parts of Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties.
