Mothers Say More Must Be Done To Solve Murders

by Richard Sher
BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― Two friends whose sons were both shot to death on the streets of Baltimore are furious.

As Richard Sher reports, Kimberly Armstrong's 16-year-old son Eric Villines was killed in September of 2004, yet the murder is still unsolved.

Wanda Powell's 21-year-old son Darrell Smith was murdered this past Sunday night. So far, there are no suspects in the investigation.

Armstrong told WJZ's Sher, "They can go to Iraq for weapons of mass destruction but they can't fight the war that's going on in our streets."

"It is totally unbelievable that I will never get to see my first-born again," Powell said.

Armstrong said if these were young white males being shot down there would be a revolution in the city. City police spokesperson Donny Moses told WJZ's Sher, "I don't want to put any kind of racial spin on this.
Every case gets the same priority, but in some cases witnesses come forward." "She (Armstrong) is entitled to her opinion," said Moses.

Anyone with information on the cases is asked to call police.

Kimberly Armstrong can also be contacted at 410-483-5998.
