Dew Tour Brings In $55,000 For Baltimore
by Mike Schuh
BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―
Twice in the past month, Baltimore has been featured live on national TV programs for sporting events being held at the stadiums at Camden Yards.
As
Mike Schuh reports, the events and the exposure mean more than millions for the city.
A kid nicknamed the Flying Tomato landed in town this weekend. He and all the other athletes were the latest in a successful steady run of non-football or baseball events.
The Dew Tour brought in $55,000, one-third from out-of-state visitors. Experts say this success is making it easy for the next promoter to pick Baltimore.
"If people know Baltimore looks beautiful, that's a great story for us," said Tom Noonan, Visitors Bureau.
This weekend, it's estimated that 400,000 people will attend the African-American Heritage Festival down at the stadiums.
