Dixon Faces Ethics Probe

BALTIMORE, Md. (AP) ― Baltimore's City Council President Sheila Dixon is facing an ethics investigation for her involvement in city decisions that benefited a company that employs her sister.

Dixon is accused of voting at three Board of Estimates meetings in the past two years on contracts with the company, Union Technologies -- also known as Utech. She insists she abstained from voting. Dixon is also accused of asking Comcast of Baltimore at a recent council committee meeting why it was no longer subcontracting with Utech and other minority firms.

The Baltimore Sun reports Dixon had not disclosed her sister's job in her financial disclosure filing with the ethics board. Dixon amended her financial disclosure statement this week after The Sun reported the potential conflict.

The ethics board has scheduled a meeting for February 21st.
