Smith To Start For Ravens Vs. Rams

BALTIMORE (AP) ―

Troy Smith will start at quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens in their third preseason game.

Coach John Harbaugh said Wednesday that Smith will get an extended look from the coaching staff when the Ravens take on the St. Louis Rams on Saturday night. Harbaugh says the second-year player from Ohio State may take all the snaps with the first-team offense.

Smith is battling with Kyle Boller for the Ravens' starting job. Neither quarterback has distinguished himself in two preseason games so far.

The Ravens open their season at home against Cincinnati on Sept. 7. Harbaugh has said he might wait until the week before the game to announce his starter.
