Fans Learn Firsthand What It Takes To Be A Raven

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― The Baltimore Ravens have one of the biggest female fan bases in the NFL.

Mary Bubala reports 3,000 women came out for a purple evening.

It was girls' night out with a little football. It's the chance to play like a Raven on sacred ground at M&T Bank Stadium.

"I like all the women out here, so that way you know everyone likes football a little bit," said one fan.

It's jersey and jeans or anything purple. There was a twist on the team uniform for thousands of women who attended "Purple Just for Women."

The evening caters to the team's female fan base, which is pretty and pumped up.

"This is my second year and it is fantastic.  This is the most fun I had," said another fan.

"This is awesome! We watch so many of the games, so to actually come down on the field and see how big it is, is unbelievable," said another fan.

The Ravens say their fan base is 46 percent female and growing. Purple evening gives the women an opportunity to get a feel for the game, and it seems to be paying off.

Drills are run with a Ravens' coach dispensing tips and advice. Whether the women grasp it right away or not, everybody had a ball.
