Orioles Announce Spring Training Schedule

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― The Orioles will open their 14th spring training season in Fort Lauderdale with a game against the New York Mets on Feb. 25.
 
The first of 19 home games the club will play as part of their 2009 spring schedule.

Baltimore will face seven different opponents during the '09 spring campaign. They will play the St. Louis Cardinals eight times (four at home, four in Jupiter), including two split squad games on March 13 and 18; the Florida Marlins seven times (four at home, three in Jupiter) and the Mets six times (three at home, three on the road).

The Birds will host the Washington Nationals, Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox twice at Fort Lauderdale Stadium and play each team twice on the road as well. They will face the Tampa Bay Rays once at home during the spring. In preparation for the World Baseball Classic, the Orioles will also face the Dominican Republic WBC team in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday, March 4.

The Orioles will play their last 2009 spring training game in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday, April 1 against the Florida Marlins. The club will play the Mets in Port St. Lucie on Thursday, April 2 for their last spring training game in Florida.

Individual tickets for all 19 spring training games at Fort Lauderdale Stadium will go on sale on Jan. 10 at 10 a.m. Fans interested in season, multi-game or group ticket plans, or those wishing to receive additional spring training ticket information may call the Orioles spring training office at (954) 776-1921.

Orioles pitchers and catchers will hold their first workout on Sunday, Feb. 15. The first full-squad workout will be held on Thursday, Feb. 19. Workouts at Fort Lauderdale Stadium are free and open to the public up to the date games begin. Ballpark gates open at 9 a.m. each day.
