Orioles To Celebrate Magical 1983 Season Wednesday

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― It happened 25 years ago.  The Orioles completed a magical season by beating the Phillies to win the World Series.

Ron Matz reports they'll turn back the clock Wednesday night at Camden Yards to mark this special anniversary.

It was a magical moment on October 16, 1983.  The Orioles won the World Series and brought the trophy home to Baltimore.

The O's faithful have their tickets.  They'll come to Birdland Wednesday to celebrate the 25th anniversary of that championship season.

"Always rooting for the Orioles.  I'll always support them," said Erin Shinholt.

It seems like it was only yesterday.

Mike Flanagan was a young left-hander on that team.  Now the O's vice president, Flanagan says Orioles magic was real.

"It was real.  We all bought into it and felt something special was going to happen," he said. "Certainly in 1983, it did."

In honor of the 25th anniversary celebration, all upper deck seats will cost just $5.50--the same price they were back at Memorial Stadium in 1983.

More than 20 players and coaches from the 1983 championship team will be at Camden Yards Wednesday night.  The Orioles take on the Blue Jays and players from both teams will wear jerseys from the 1983 season.
