Ravens May Need Flacco To Start Against Atlanta

BALTIMORE (AP) ―

The Baltimore Ravens get their final preseason tuneup Thursday when they host the Atlanta Falcons at M&T Bank Stadium.

Rookie Joe Flacco could be making his second consecutive start at quarterback. He has taken all the reps in practice this week.

Second-year veteran Troy Smith became ill with an infection shortly before last Saturday's game against the Rams and was still recuperating Wednesday. Six-year veteran Kyle Boller is out of action with a shoulder injury.

Flacco played the entire game against the Rams, completed 18 of 37 passes and threw for one touchdown.

If Flacco gets hurt against Atlanta, the Ravens could use receiver Mark Clayton at quarterback. He has taken a few snaps during practices.
