Md. Stadium Authority To Study Soccer Stadium Plan
BALTIMORE (AP) ―
Baltimore's minor-league outdoor soccer club has proposed a 7,000-seat soccer stadium near M&T Bank Stadium, and the Maryland Stadium Authority agreed Tuesday to study the $30 million proposal's potential.
Crystal Palace Football Club USA currently plays at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. But the group and the people who own 15 acres at Carroll Camden Industrial Park in Baltimore want to build a stadium by the 2012 season.
Mayor Sheila Dixon asked the stadium authority to consider the idea -- the second related to soccer for the city. A separate stadium proposal for D.C. United, a Major League Soccer team, is also being considered.
Crystal Palace president Pete Medd said the stadium and a proposed casino would continue creating a sports entertainment district.
