Walker Copes With Name On Disabled List

BALTIMORE (AP) ―

Jamie Walker is finding it difficult to cope with life on the 15-day disabled list.

The left-handed reliever, who received a cortisone shot in his sore elbow Monday, must wait until July 11 before coming off the DL.

"I want to come back today," he said Thursday. "This is driving me nuts. I'm losing my mind."

At least his elbow is feeling better, thanks to the cortisone.

"It feels like Superman," he said.

Told of Walker's frame of mind, Orioles manager Dave Trembley said, "I would imagine the way he is, he's having a real difficult time not being out there. It's a different experience for him."

Walker hopes to return when he's eligible, but won't come back at less than 100 percent.

"If it's still hurting, I'm not going to come back. That's not fair to my teammates," he said.
