JFK's Boat For Sale In Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS. Md. (WJZ) ― During election seasons like 2008's, it's easy to forget the more human side of politicians. But on Sunday in Annapolis, hundreds got an up close look at the passion of one of the country's favorite former presidents.

Adam May reports at the Annapolis Boat Show, Manitou is the star.

It was known as the "Floating White House" during the John F. Kennedy administration.

"He usurped her and filled her full of radios, so he could keep in contact with the home base and used her during his administration until he was assassinated," said Harry Morgan.

Now, after a 10-year renovation, the 62-foot Sparkman is for sale, but it hasn't lost its original charm.

"The original owner said to his wife he was gonna build a race boat, and she said as long as it has a bathtub, she didn't care what he built. So there is a bathtub down below," said Morgan.

The price to pay for this piece of history is $1.3 million.

The sailboat was originally built in Maryland on Solomons Island.
