Teachers Trained To Bring Technology Into Class

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― Five teachers receive a two-week internship to bring math and science into the classroom.

Gigi Barnett reports Demetrice Smith and Jason Bullerman are two of five teachers who spent the last two weeks working on a project at Lockheed Martin.

It's a partnership between Chesapeake High School and the engineering company that allows teachers to learn what the engineers at Lockheed Martin do.

In the fall, teachers will take what they've learned back to the classroom.

This could be a career connection for some of their students.

"We're homegrowing our talent, so we can have the engineers local...come back here to Lockheed Martin and get a job," said Bullerman.

"Exposing them to this opportunity while they're in high school will motivate them to pursue it," said Smith.

Chesapeake High is a STEM school, which means it focuses on science, technology, engineering and math.
