New Ice Rink Opens In Reisterstown

REISTERSTOWN, Md. (WJZ) ―
If you like to ice skate, you've got a brand new place to go in Baltimore County. It's the Reisterstown Sportsplex.
Ron Matz reports the state-of-the-art facility just opened and it is already drawing huge crowds.
From beginners to the doctors of spin, it's a skater's dream. The brand new $6 million sportsplex is located near the intersection of Routes 140 and 795.
"It's wonderful, it's beautiful, it's family oriented, very nice. I'm impressed," said visitor Terry Brown.
The ice rank is 200 feet by 85 feet, just like the National Hockey League.
"We have a NHL size rank. We're going to be having adult hockey, youth hockey, and learn to skate classes, so everyone can come out and enjoy the facility," Glen Danischewski with rink management services said.
The impressive new place allows skaters to bring their own skates or rent them.
"Last weekend was our grand opening. We had over 20,000 people through the building," Danischewski said.
The Reisterstown Sportsplex also houses an indoor soccer and lacrosse field with state-of-the-art artificial turf. It's open seven days a week.
