A diagnosis of cancer is frightening.
This is why, HopeWell Cancer Support began in 1993, to provide support to women and men with cancer, and their loved ones.
Project 10 is specifically for women with breast cancer, who carry cameras provided by HopeWell. They snap pictures and share their lives with cancer through the lens of their cameras.
Mary Trotta was diagnosed last October. She tells
Richard Sher, "I once took a picture of a bird, trapped in a cage. Now, I know it sounds crazy but I'm happier now than I've ever been. Now I photograph the sunrises."
Project 10 was started by artist Julia Kim Smith and her friend Francesca Danieli, who died from breast cancer.
"They are seeing their own mortality through the eyes of their cameras. It's an amazing journey for all of them," said Julia.
HopeWell Cancer Support is free and available to cancer patients and their families.
