O's Fans Can Meet New Players At FanFest

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―

It's the hometown kickoff to the Orioles season and it happens Saturday at Camden Yards.

Ron Matz reports O's fans got the chance to meet their favorites from the past and present at FanFest 2008.

Last year 10,000 of the O's faithful came, getting a chance to ask O's bigwigs all about their favorite team.

"It's just getting into the park and seeing what's going on. Watch some practice. It should be fun," said O's fan Gary Anderson.

Part of the magic will be a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the O's last World Series Championship. MVP Rick Dempsey says FanFest is a blast.

"It's a lot of fun. Fans get an opportunity to take pictures with the players, talk to the players, interview them and be a part of everything," Dempsey said.

And what could be more enjoyable than hitting the field with the Orioles Bird or maybe taking a picture with Babe Ruth? For Baltimore baseball lovers, the orange and black run deep.

"We created quite a dynasty here for a long time.  We were always in a pennant race and I think Oriole fans remember that and they want to see it again," said Dempsey.

FanFest will be held Saturday, Mar. 29 at Camden Yards from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

From 10:30 a.m.-noon, you can meet Mary Bubala, Don Scott and Ron Matz.

From noon-1:30 p.m., you can see Mark Viviano and Stan Saunders.

From 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m, meet meteorologists Bernadette Woods and Tim Williams.

WJZ is also teaming up with MASN to bring you Orioles Opening Day 2008. Watch WJZ's special coverage beginning at 2 p.m. Monday, March 31 on WJZ-13.
