Carmelo Anthony Returns To Baltimore

Reporting

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―
He's an NBA star and a member of the U.S. Olympic team and he grew up right here in Baltimore.
Ron Matz reports this weekend Carmelo Anthony has returned to help his hometown.
At Cloverdale Park Courts, it's "Holding Our Own Destiny Weekend," hosted by Baltimore's own and Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony.
"It's always good to give back to my community. This is where I played, where I grew up, so coming back, it was easy to pick this court and pick Baltimore, to do it in my hometown, my city," Anthony said.
It's a weekend of activities to benefit disadvantaged children and families in Baltimore through Carmelo's foundation.
"I remember Melo from Mount Royal when he was in pre-school. He's grown up to be a very nice young man. He's shown he's giving back to the community and it's a great thing," said basketball coach Orrin Webb.
This is Melo's fourth annual weekend in Baltimore and the kids can't wait to see him.
"Well, he's one of my favorite players. I just hope I can see him and maybe say hello. I think it's pretty cool Carmelo is doing all this for us," said Aaron O'Brien.
Everyone's excited watching the three-on-three hoops.
Carmelo Anthony attended Towson Catholic High School and Syracuse University before heading to the NBA. Since forming his foundation three years ago, he's donated $4 million for various projects in Baltimore and Syracuse.
