Mervo HS Field Named After Former Ravens Owner

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―

For Baltimore's Mervo High School, a field of dreams comes true with the dedication of a $1 million renovation to its football stadium.

Richard Sher reports after years of playing on an inferior field, filled with stones, Mervo's team will be playing on a newly renovated artificial turf field.

The renovation was made possible by the Baltimore Ravens All Community Team Foundation, the Steve and Renee Bisciotti Foundation, the Chris McAlister Foundation and the NFL Youth Football Fund.

It's called the Art Modell Field at Mervo. The former owner of the Ravens was delighted.

"I do welcome this operant to have the Modell family remembered in this special way," said Art Modell, former Ravens owner.

As a special plaque was unveiled, team owner Bisciotti said, "Art and Pat Modell are family and are very important to all of us."

The Northwood Youth Football League will also play its games on the new Mervo field.
