Rice Makes It Into End Zone
BALTIMORE (AP) ―
It took 16 games over two seasons, but Ray Rice finally made it into the end zone Sunday.
Rice, the Ravens' second-round pick in 2008, high-stepped across the goal line with his hand held high on a 9-yard run. After celebrating with teammates, Rice tucked the ball into his arm and ran to the bench with his keepsake.
Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, also a second-year player, made the handoff and quickly understood the result.
"I handed the ball to him and a couple of seconds later, I realized he was going to be in the end zone," Flacco said. "It's about time. He's been knocking on the door a couple of times," Flacco said.
"It took me a long time, but I was patient. I'm sure that it will be the first of many. It was just the right time and the right play."
