Ravens Raise Money For O.J. Brigance's Foundation

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― Ray Lewis, Joe Flacco and other Ravens players hit the town Tuesday to honor a beloved figure of the Ravens organization.

Kai Jackson has more on Tuesday's "Two Rings For O.J." event.

"Two Rings for O.J." is about O.J. Brigance, the director of player development for the Ravens.

ALS has taken a toll on Brigance's body, as well as his life, but he is a fighter and he's fighting Tuesday to raise awareness and money for the disease he has.

Brigance, a former football linebacker, stands out personally and professionally.

O.J. Brigance spent 12 years in professional football and holds the distinction of being the only player to win Super Bowl (Ravens-2000 season) and Grey Cup (Stallions-1995 season) titles in the same city.

The  Ravens honored Brigance's accomplishments Tuesday.

He also stands out for his fight against ALS, a fatal disease that has left Brigance in a wheelchair.  He was diagnosed in 2007.

"This event will help raise funds for those who do not get the help we are getting or are not in the financial position we are in," said Chanda Brigance, O.J.'s wife of 15 years. "I know we are tying this in to celebrate O.J's 40th birthday, but the focus of the night is also on helping raise funds for those who need the help. We also want to get the word out on ALS. Since O.J. was diagnosed we have been able to raise awareness on Lou Gehrig's disease, but this is another forum to let people know this is real and needs the same amount of attention as other more well-known diseases."

"O.J. Brigance means the world--so much to us," said Ed Reed.  "He's our strength.  He's our inspiration."
