Man Sentenced In Rockfish Case

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) ― Federal prosecutors say a St. Mary's County seafood company owner has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for falsely recording the amount and weight of striped bass, or rockfish.

Robert Lumpkins, owner of Golden Eye Seafood LLC, was also ordered on Friday to pay a $36,000 fine and $164,000 in restitution.

Lumpkins pleaded guilty in June to creating false records and transporting illegally harvested wildlife.

Prosecutors say the rockfish were harvested by local fisherman and checked in through Golden Eye from 2003 to 2007.
