Girl, 3, Bitten By Copperhead At Md. State Park

BOONSBORO, Md. (AP) ―

A Maryland Park Service spokesman says a 3-year-old girl was bitten on the hand by a poisonous snake while camping with her family at Greenbrier State Park.

The girl encountered the copperhead snake around 8 p.m. Saturday at the park near Boonsboro.

Park Ranger Dan Spedden says the girl's family contacted the camp host who alerted the park service.

She was taken to Washington County Hospital and then flown to Children's Hospital in Washington.

Spedden says the girl is expected to be released Tuesday.
