Md. Black Bear Hunt Ends

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) ― Maryland's black bear hunt in the western part of the state has ended.

Officials with the Department of Natural Resources announced the end of the hunt in Garrett and Allegany counties late Thursday.

Sixty-eight bears were reported to mandatory check stations.

The hunt started Monday.

The season is the sixth since black bear hunting resumed in Maryland in 2004 after it had been outlawed for about 50 years.
