Theft Charges Dropped After Coach Repays Money

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) ―

Theft charges have been dropped against a Washington County Junior Football League coach after he repaid the money.

Prosecutors say 49-year-old John Weeks has paid $2,328 in restitution to the Hagerstown Browns junior football team.

Investigators had said Weeks cashed checks from an account belonging to the Hagerstown Browns.

Deputy State's Attorney Steven Kessell says the agreement gets the money back to the youngsters of the football league.

According to the agreement, Weeks agreed to return property belonging to the team and not to be involved with the junior football league or a similar organization.

Weeks' lawyer, Shaun Owens, said in court Wednesday that all of the equipment was believed to have been returned to the league and the team.
