Reports Link Ankiel, Glaus To Pharmacy
NEW YORK (AP) ―
Major League Baseball wants to meet with St. Louis' Rick Ankiel and former World Series MVP Troy Glaus after the two were linked to performance-enhancing drugs in separate reports.
Baseball officials have requested meetings with the players.
Both allegedly received performance-enhancing drugs from a Florida pharmacy that's under investigation for illegally
distributing prescription medications.
New York's Daily News is reporting that Ankiel received eight shipments of human growth hormones from January to December 2004.
The one-time pitching sensation has made a comeback to major league baseball as an outfielder and has hit nine home runs since rejoining the Cardinals last month.
Glaus received multiple shipments of Nandrolone and testosterone between September 2003 and May 2004, according to SI.com.
Glaus currently plays with Toronto.
Major League Baseball doesn't test for HGH and didn't ban it until 2005.
A player who possessed it or used it after that time could be suspended for 50 games.
