Chapel Hill Elem. Crowned Big Meltdown Winner

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―

We hope you were watching Eyewitness News Morning Edition Monday.

It was a big day in front of Jimmy's in Fells Point.

Ron Matz has more on all the excitement of this year's Mammoth Manic Monday Meltdown.

The WJZ crew was preparing for days for the 9th Annual Mammoth Manic Monday Meltdown.

The Meltdown drew a big crowd and put a smile on everyone's face, despite the rain.

Hundreds turned out in front of Jimmy's in Fells Point. Signs were everywhere, displaying where participants were from and what organization they represented.

The Meltdown unofficially starts Baltimore's holiday season.

Enthusiasm reigned as the first Spirit Award was given to the Baltimore City Cancer Program.

WJZ general manager, Jay Newman got his groove on, as well as the Baltimore Blast Cheerleaders.

The kids from Gilmore Elementary also took home a Spirit Award.

Around 6:40 a.m., Chapel Hill Elementary was crowned this year's  Mammoth Manic Monday champion.

This year there was a record number of votes submitted to WJZ.COM.
