Sowers & Supporters Want Ouster Of Spokeswoman

BALTIMORE (AP) ―

The widow of a Baltimore man who died after a beating during a street robbery is calling for the removal of Margaret Burns as chief spokeswoman for State's Attorney Patricia Jessamy.

Anna Sowers and dozens of supporters gathered for a rally at the Baltimore Farmer's Market on Sunday.

Sowers says Burns trivialized the death of her husband Zach during public comments about the investigation. In the June issue of Exhibit A, a magazine about legal issues, Burns said prosecutors believed Sowers could have had a pre-existing condition that contributed to his death from traumatic brain injury.

Burns said Sowers "looked like a sleeping baby" at the hospital after the assault. Jessamy did not respond to a request for comment after the rally.
