Patterson Park Assault Victim Remembered
BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―
It's music, memories and food at the Sonar Lounge on Saratoga Street in downtown Baltimore Wednesday night. It's a way for the widow and friends of Zach Sowers to celebrate his life.
"This is all an event for him," his widow, Anna Sowers, said.
Zach Sowers was beaten and robbed by four teens outside his Patterson Park home in June 2007. He lay in a coma for nine months. Last week, he died from his injuries.
Now, after grieving his death, those close to Zach are remembering the good times.
"He was wholesome," Brian Strumke said.
He was a friend to many, including area DJs. In fact, music was one of Zach's passions.
That passion is something Anna Sowers say she'll miss the most about Zach. They were married less than a year when he was attacked.
Four teenagers were arrested in the beating. One pleaded guilty and is now serving a 40-year prison sentence. The others are serving eight years.
