Youth Worker Charged In Sex Abuse Of Minor

GALENA, Md. (AP) ― Maryland State Police have charged a Kent County youth center employee with sexually abusing a minor.

Police say Rene Walbeck, 42, of Galena turned herself in Wednesday for allegedly abusing a 17-year-old boy housed at a Chestertown facility.

The youth told police Walbeck engaged in sexual acts with the youth from August to September while he lived at Kent Youth Incorporated.

Kent County Social Services staff contacted state police after the boy went to the Carter Youth Facility in Chestertown for an unrelated incident.

Police collected DNA samples and evidence at the Kent Youth Incorporated facility before arresting Walbeck. A Kent County grand jury indicted the woman on charges of sexual abuse of a minor and sexual conduct with a confined minor.
