Worcester County Creating Slots Advisory Board
SNOW HILL, Md. (AP) ―
Worcester County Commissioners are creating an advisory board to work with the state on bringing slots gambling to the Eastern Shore.
County commissioners sent a letter Thursday to Gov. Martin O'Malley announcing the creation of the Worcester County Slots Work Group.
Commission President Virgil Shockley said the group will most likely include representatives from the departments of economic development and planning, local businesses leaders, officials from area chambers of commerce and at least one commissioner.
Shockley said the purpose of the group is to make sure the county has a say on traffic and development issues.
Members of the group, which is expected to have less than 10 members, are expected to be named at the commissioner's Nov. 18 meeting.
