More NYC Subway Cars Heading To Md. Ocean Floor
OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) ―
More New York City subway cars are heading to their final resting place in the Atlantic off the coast of Ocean City.
More than 40 subway cars are expected to be placed Tuesday at Bass Grounds, about 10 miles southeast of the popular beach resort. The reef will be the second built off the Ocean City coast this year using old subway cars.
In addition to Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, South Carolina and Georgia are among the states that have also used New York subway cars to create marine habitat. The Delaware reef has become a popular fishing spot.
