Schaefer Kicks Off Guest Speaker Series

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― Former Baltimore mayor, Maryland governor and State Comptroller William Donald Schaefer kicked off the guest speaker series at the Pikesville Library in Baltimore County Wednesday.

Schaefer turns 86 next month.

"When you're 85, going on 86, and have worked this much, it takes a toll," Schaefer told Richard Sher.

The meeting room was packed with mostly elderly people who heard Schaefer talk about, politics, the city, slots, calling women "little girls," and much more.

When asked how he would like to be remembered Schaefer said, "On my tombstone I want just two words, 'he cared!'"
