Carroll Co. Home Invasion Suspects On The Loose

TAYLORSVILLE, Md. (WJZ) ―

Three suspects are on the loose after a home invasion in Carroll County. Jessica Kartalija reports one victim is recovering in Shock Trauma after he was shot in the head.

Police are still searching for the gunmen.

An atypical scene in this small Carroll County town.

Around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday police were called to the 2600-block of Liberty Road where police say three suspects entered the home, ordered two men inside to the first floor, then shot one of the men in the head.

State police tell Eyewitness News that one of the victims was able to get away from his attackers. He ran across the yard to a neighbor's house where he called 911.

Roxanne Fitzgerald works at the neighboring convenience store.

"I got here at ten of five this morning, and when I pulled up, this whole area was cordoned off, and I couldn't get into the parking lot," Fitzgerald said.

"This was not a random act of violence, that possibly, these suspects were specifically targeting this residence," Elena Russo of Maryland State Police said.

"People keep saying it could be drug related. They could have bought drugs from them and never paid them," Fitzgerald said.

Still, while the suspects remain on the loose, those who live in the town of Taylorsville are on edge.

"No it doesn't happen here. I've been here 15 years and worked for four different people, and I've never seen anything like this," Fitzgerald said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Maryland State police.
