Queen Anne's Measure Protects Watermen
CENTREVILLE, Md. (AP) ―
The Queen Anne's County commissioners have unanimously approved an ordinance giving some protection to commercial seafood and fishing industry operations from nuisance complaints.
The so-called "right to fish" law protects watermen in much the same way as a previous ordinance that protects farmers.
Under the bill, the commissioners will appoint five people to a committee that will mediate disputes between residents and watermen or others working in the seafood industry.
