Water Main Break In Kensington Floods Basements
KENSINGTON, Md. (AP) ―
A water main break has knocked out water service to 27 homes in Kensington and flooded basements.
The 8-inch main broke at about 2 a.m. Friday at the top of a hill on Matthews Lane. It created a 10-foot sinkhole.
Resident Ivan Fuss tells WTOP that he has about a foot of muddy water in his basement.
Kim Knox, a spokeswoman for the Washington Suburban Sanitation Commission, says water was restored to the homes in the early afternoon.
She says the main was about 60-years-old.
